US Critical Materials relocates HQ to Darby, Montana, and appoints new leadership

US Critical Materials Corp (USCM), a private rare-earths exploration and process development company, has announced the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Darby, Montana; key leadership appointments; and the launch of a public information website for its Sheep Creek Project in Ravalli County, Montana. The Sheep Creek Project is reported to be one of the highest-grade rare-earth deposits in the USA, containing rare-earth elements, gallium, and other strategically important minerals. The board appointed Scott Osterman as CEO; he has been instrumental in advancing the project and engaging stakeholders. James McCubbin was appointed CFO, bringing over 40 years of experience. Additional appointments include Chad Miller as chief technology officer, Peter Mejstrik as chief geologist, Eric Levy-Myers as director of government affairs, and Chris Whaling as director of AI integration. The company will move its principal operations from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Darby, making the Bitterroot Valley its permanent corporate home. A new Darby office will serve as a local information center for community members. The Sheep Creek Project remains in exploration and evaluation, subject to environmental regulations and permitting. USCM is advancing the project through collaborations with Idaho National Laboratory, Montana Tech, Columbia University, the University of Illinois, SRI International, REAlloys, VerAI Discoveries, and others to strengthen domestic supply chains for critical minerals.
